Here is a sampling of the letters that my mother (then known
as Carol Lynn Heggen) sent home to her parents in Oklahoma
during WWII. When the war started she was finishing
her degree at Northwestern University. In 1942 she married
and moved to New York to work at Reader's Digest. Then
she joined the Red Cross in 1945 and was sent to Saipan.
